Description
Position SummaryThe Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting accurate and timely financial reporting through ownership of general ledger activities, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial analysis. This role partners closely with financeleadership and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with GAAP, support audits, and drive continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Own month-end and year-end close processes
- Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
- Assist with monthly financial statements and management reporting
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Assist with external audits and provide audit support documentation
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, AP/AR, and operational teams
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiencies
- Mentor and review work of junior accounting staff as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience (corporate or public accounting)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with month-end close and general ledger ownership
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
- Experience working within ERP systems (Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics, SAP, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- CPA or CPA-track
- Public accounting or audit background
- Experience in manufacturing, life sciences, or high-growth environments
- Experience supporting audits or complex entities
- Prior mentoring or reviewing junior staff work
