Senior Account Manager - Commercial Insurance - Melbourne Your new companyThis role sits within a large, well-established Australian insurance broking group that has continued to expand through deliberate and well planned growth. The organisation employs more than 200 insurance professionals nationally and operates across commercial risk, client advisory and broking services. It is well regarded in the market for its consistent client service standards, long-standing insurer relationships and focus on sustainable, long-term growth.
The local team supports a diverse commercial client base, ranging from established small and medium enterprises through to more complex mid-market risks. Senior brokers work within a well resourced environment, with strong account management support and experienced operational leadership. Your new role
You will join the business as a Senior Account Manager, taking ownership of a well-established commercial insurance portfolio created to support continued growth. The role is servicing and relationship focused, with responsibility for managing renewals, advising clients on their risk programs and maintaining strong insurer relationships. The portfolio will sit broadly in the $500k to $800k income range, depending on experience. This position suits an experienced commercial broker who values stability, client engagement and autonomy. You will work closely with internal support staff and operational leadership, allowing you to focus on delivering quality outcomes for clients rather than transactional process.
- Manage and service a defined portfolio of commercial insurance clients
- Lead renewals from initial review through to placement and settlement
- Provide clear, practical insurance advice across general commercial risks
- Build and maintain strong relationships with underwriters and insurers
- Identify appropriate growth and retention opportunities within existing accounts
- Support account management and administrative staff where required.
- Ensure all compliance, documentation and governance requirements are met
- Contribute positively to team culture and broader business objectives
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced commercial insurance professional with a strong grounding in general insurance and a client-focused approach to broking. You will be comfortable managing established commercial relationships, advising across a range of risk types and working with autonomy within a mature, well structured environment. This opportunity will suit a broker operating at Senior Account Manager, Senior Broker or Senior Risk Advisor level, or someone clearly ready to step into that level of responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience managing a commercial general insurance portfolio
- Broad technical knowledge across business packages, property and core commercial risks
- Strong client relationship management and advisory capability
- Confidence leading renewals and negotiating with underwriters
- Tier 1, QPIB or CIP qualifications
