Curative Talent has partnered with the Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston on the search for a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis. This is the largest adult department at Baylor College of Medicine, and one of the most comprehensive academic medicine departments in the nation.
This powerhouse department has an annual budget of around $400mil, including $120mil in extramural research. As a member of the Department Executive Leadership team, this role will:
- Lead the financial strategy and operations for the department
- Oversee financial modeling and market analysis to support strategic initiatives
- Develop business plans for new programs and capital investments
- Drive grants and research finance
- Support clinical operations
We are looking for an experienced finance leader with flexibility and drive to handle this very hands-on financial leadership role.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is the largest adult practice department at Baylor
College of Medicine, located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Founded in 1953, it includes over 800 faculty
members organized into 14 sections, 10 centers, and seven vice-chair groups, making it one of the most
comprehensive academic medicine departments in the nation. The department’s mission is to advance patient
care, foster innovation, and train future leaders in medicine through cutting-edge research and robust educational
programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree
• Eleven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree and seven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience
• Experience in an academic medical center or healthcare setting
• Experience with clinical, research, and educational financial models is strongly preferred
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex financial operations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills demonstrating an executive presence
• Proficiency in financial systems, data analytics tools, and Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of academic medicine, grants management, and healthcare finance
