Description

The Assistant Finance Director assists the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the overall administration and leadership of the Finance Department. This position oversees key financial management functions, including accounting, accounts payable, purchasing and contracts, payroll, billing, and collections ensuring the effective stewardship of the City’s financial resources in accordance with established laws, policies, and best practices. This position is dedicated to delivering timely, accurate, and transparent financial information, as well as providing exceptional service to both internal and external customers. The role involves complex professional, administrative, and technical work in planning, organizing, and directing the department’s daily financial operations. Additionally, the position provides substantial support in preparing the City’s annual operating and capital budgets, as well as in coordinating the annual audit process.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public or business administration from an accredited college or university, and 
Four years (4) in accounting or finance including supervisory experience.
Other Requirements

Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license, or any valid driver’s license with ability to obtain a North Carolina driver’s license within 60 days of establishing a permanent residence in North Carolina.
